Mangalyaan: India's Mars Mission

The Mars Orbiter Mission is a space probe orbiting Mars since 24 September 2014. ISRO launched the craft from Andhra Pradesh.

ISRO built the spacecraft in 15 months. It became the fourth agency to reach Mars orbit.

Modi compared it to an auto ride.

The PSLV rocket lifted off at 09:08 UTC on 5 November 2013. Bad weather delayed the launch by eight days.

MOM spent a month raising its Earth orbit with seven maneuvers before 30 November 2013. Seven laps before leaving home.

After a 298-day transit, MOM entered Mars orbit. The probe carried five scientific instruments weighing 15 kg total.

A long eclipse ended communications in April 2022. ISRO declared the mission over on 3 October 2022.
