The box nobody opened

This box has been to eleven weddings.

And one divorce. Nobody has ever opened it.

It started with Dadi. Diwali 2019. A gift for her sister.

In my family, a gift is not a gift. It's a relay baton.

London. Dubai. Toronto. Nairobi. It has seen more of the world than Dadi. Still sealed.

Seven years later, a cousin gave it back to Dadi.

Dadi: Seven years. Not one of you opened it.

So Dadi did what any grandmother would do.

Kumar: Dadi... you shouldn't have!

Dadi: I didn't.
