What the video says
Chandrayaan-3 landed near the lunar south pole on 23 August 2023. It replaced a spacecraft that crashed in 2019.
The lander carried a rover to study the lunar soil. The region holds large amounts of ice.
On 3 September, the lander hopped 40 cm off the surface.
A laser retroreflector bounced a beam from orbit back on 12 December 2023. NASA supplied this tiny instrument.
The retroreflector weighs only 20 grams but should survive several decades on the Moon.
It will sit there for decades.
The lander and rover were not built for nighttime temperatures of minus 120 degrees Celsius. They stopped responding by 28 September.
The propulsion module left lunar orbit and entered a high Earth orbit on 22 November 2023.
