Between 29 October and 4 November 2026 we recorded 161,740 trending items that carry a country tag, from 59 countries and six platforms. This is the first of a weekly series. Each week we publish the topics that reached the most countries, and the exact way we counted them.

The ten topics that reached the most countries

  • 1. Patrick Stewart: 36 countries, 3 platforms
  • 2. Heidi Klum: 35 countries, 3 platforms
  • 3. Halloween: 31 countries, 4 platforms
  • 4. Binance: 31 countries, 2 platforms
  • 5. Learjet 60: 30 countries, 3 platforms
  • 6. Iran: 25 countries, 2 platforms
  • 7. Zelda: 21 countries, 2 platforms
  • 8. GTA 6: 19 countries, 2 platforms
  • 9. Karl Bushby: 19 countries, 2 platforms
  • 10. Callum Turner: 18 countries, 1 platform

Ranked by distinct countries, then by distinct platforms. Sport fixtures, club and athlete names, elections, generic tags and news brands are set aside (see below).

What the numbers show

The widest topic of the week was Patrick Stewart, in 36 of the 59 countries, followed by Heidi Klum in 35. Halloween was the only topic on four platforms, in 31 countries. Binance reached 31 countries and the Learjet 60 reached 30. The data does not say why any of these spread; it only shows how widely each one appeared.

Most trends stay on one platform. Of 120,769 topics, 119,934 (99.3%) appeared on a single platform and only 25 on three or more. Among the 9,403 topics that appeared in at least two countries, 8,920 (94.9%) were still on one platform and 22 were on three or more. Part of this is language, because we match text exactly and a story in two languages counts as two topics.

We set aside 1,848 sport fixtures such as club-versus-club matches, several of which reached 31 countries, and 2,628 election-related topics in 53 countries, which we report here only as a count. We publish no week-on-week risers this time: we stored 68,215 rows in the previous seven days against 163,297 in this one, so a comparison would mostly measure our own sampling.

How we count

We read our own trend collection, not a survey. Between 29 October 00:00 UTC and 5 November 00:00 UTC we stored 163,297 rows, of which 161,740 carry a country. Six platforms carry countries: Google Trends, news headlines, Twitter, TikTok, YouTube and Wikipedia. A topic is a title in lower case, with accents on Latin letters, punctuation and hashtag marks removed, and with “A vs B” fixtures merged in either order. Reach is the number of distinct countries a topic appeared in, ties broken by platforms. Matching is by text, so the same story in two languages is two topics. We also left out generic tags, news brands and two titles we could not tie to a public figure.
